Reviews

Mads Engberg

Singing student

Emil has been a good teacher because he is very skilled in vocal technique and clearly enjoys teaching. He also took great care to consider what I was emotionally ready for and was good at respecting my boundaries, while still pushing me enough to get out of my comfort zone—which was exactly what I needed to become a better singer. It’s a pleasure to be taught by such a thorough teacher.

Mathias Dons

Singing student, 26 years old

Emil has been an exceptionally skilled teacher who helped me rediscover the joy of singing. Rarely have I developed so much in such a short time and with so much say in what we cover. It is a pleasure to be met by such a thorough teacher, and I can highly recommend Emil.

Lovis

14-year-old singing student

I started with Emil because I often experienced pain and became hoarse when singing. I don't anymore, because Emil has given me lots of good vocal exercises—so now I know my voice better. It's really great! Emil is also very kind.

Irene Krause

Piano student

I am a 78-year-old woman who started learning the piano with Emil 8 years ago as a beginner. Emil’s teaching skills and varied approach have been invaluable. Warm regards, Irene.

Singing and confidence

Emil Kampp singing and teaching in Copenhagen

Most of us associate singing with something positive, yet it can feel very vulnerable to sing in front of others. Maybe someone once told you that you were "tone-deaf", or friends, family or colleagues made fun of your voice during communal singing. Experiences like that can make you lose faith that you can learn to sing - and sometimes even affect your self-confidence.

The voice lives inside the body, unlike any other instrument, and feels like a direct extension of who we are. That makes singing extra sensitive and can trigger nerves or stage fright. In my lessons I therefore focus on creating a safe and trusting space where you can be yourself and develop your voice without fear of it "breaking" or of unhealthy technique. Singing should be enjoyable - and the good news is: everyone can learn to sing!

It's a great joy when you find your voice and gain musical freedom. Many students tell me after some time: "I feel much more at ease in my voice now - it's made me more confident." Building control and freedom in your voice often gives a confidence boost that carries over into everyday life.
